The Hindu Marriage Act came into force in the year 1955. Under this Act, two boys and girls of Hindu caste can marry, provided that they should not have blood relations with each other. Also, this Act says that if a young man or woman wants to marry for the second time, then the second marriage will not be valid without divorce or if the spouse of either party is not alive.
This Act was revised in the year 1954. Three important rules were made in the new Act-
1. Registration facility for a specific type of weddings. 2.Facility for marriage of people of different religions.
3. Facility of divorce after marriage.
